So now that we all know the definition of time warp let’s go back in time! I took this picture way back in February and loved it but never got the time to blog it. It was only the second time I really tried a lot of new things on a photo. Over time I completely forgot that I had it and only recently remembered. Now usually I wouldn’t go back to things from that long ago but the [Deadwool] Peak Suit is still such a staple in terms of men’s clothing that I think it’s still reasonable. So let’s call this kind of a retrospective type post. Continue reading →
This is an idea that I’ve been cooking up for a couple of days and I WISH it could have come in as a We ❤ Role Play (We ❤ RP) preview post! Sometimes life gets in the way, though, and what with being sick yesterday and today is my nephew’s third birthday (AAHHH!! <3), there just wasn’t time to get to posting until tonight. As you might be able to tell from the theme of the pictures below, Lucky and I are both in an aggressive headspace at the moment but don’t worry, we try to use our powers for good. 😉
Today marks the opening of the newest round of We ❤ RP and I KNOW that I say this every time but WOW! There’s a veritable TON of great items available, many of which will find their way onto Mask and Mien over the next few weeks (I already have four more posts in mind, styled up and ready to go). I’m wondering how long I’ll be waiting for her to finish getting dressed this time. (I’ve lost count of the times we’ve done this.) One of the things I’m jealous of is the amount of clothes that women get in SL compared to what the men get. It’s really a pain when you’ve got an idea for something but there just is no real way to accomplish it given the options available. Then I watch Portia spend all kinds of time trying to figure out what to wear. Safe to say I’m a bit more glad to have fewer options then. Continue reading →
In getting ready for the November round of We ❤ Role-Play (We ❤ RP), this was the very first item brought to my attention and I have to say, I’m glad it was the first. This bath tub from Noble Creations ( [NC] ) is just stunning in regular SL windlight (check the raw shot below) and I knew immediately that I had to use it in some way. Somehow. There’s a definite old world vibe here, only enhanced by the sexy Spartan helm, with red or black plume, and pauldrons also available this round from the same awesome creator.
The trick, as always, was capturing this feeling of opulence with just a hint of danger. I asked my man Lucky for a favour. Ahem.
After this point, the post isn’t completely safe for work. Bookmark for later if you’ve gotta. Heck, IM me for a style card or just to say “hey” and I’ll give you all the details! After this point, there’s a bit of skin but nothing graphic; just your good buddy Portia looking out for you in a potentially-G-rated setting. ❤
What a crazy month, right? It’s been “GOGOGO!!” over here and we’re just hitting the halfway mark for October. Life’s been great, though, and I am so pleased to be able to share my first co-written post with my man, my baby; my sometimes-too-wonderful-for-words Lucky! 😀
Since we’re still new to this whole interviewing-one-another deal, the questions might not be 100% perfect but the love, and the banter, is real. Lucky and I have always enjoyed shopping and styling together and if you take a look around Mask and Mien, you’ll see that he’s really started to get into blogging as well. And I couldn’t be prouder. ❤
So what we’ve done here has been great fun already. We’ve styled together and each taken our own pictures. We’ve written questions for one another and then answered the questions put to us. Style credits, as always, are at the bottom so let’s get to it, yeah?
Portia: How excited are you to be doing this post right now?
Lucky: I’m very excited to finally be doing a post together. I had intended to do something like this sooner but finding the time to actually do it was tricky. Originally I was going to bug you about doing it for the October TMDpost but things came up and made that not a very easy option. I knew we would get around to it eventually. Even doing this one wasn’t planned. It just started from a jacket. Funny how things work out sometimes. Continue reading →
WOW. It is officially the fifth of the month, which means another round of The Men’s Dept has started. It’s one of the few men’s events on the grid these days. It’s understandable as we’re outnumbered by quite a bit. It has grown to include more unisex items as time has gone by but I look forward to it each month.
Well, actually this is my brother Lucky; the shoes are named Mae. 😀
Ahhh, much better!
So maybe there’s a bit of a disconnect between what Lucky is wearing and what I’ve chosen for this pic. If you’re looking at our feet, sure, the shoes don’t really match (but aren’t they FANTASTIC?!). What I find interesting, though, is scrolling up, you can see that we aren’t mismatched either. We coordinated colours and accessories to make this shot just a little more cohesive. Life is like that, too; sometimes you can’t line things up exactly but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t try. Use what you’ve got. Love what you have.
I know for a fact that Lucky is going to rave about his sweater-bowtie-vest-thinger in HIS blog post so I’ll just tell you about what I’m wearing today. Deal? Continue reading →
… there was a young girl who loved fairy tales; they were the first stories she read to herself and the dreams she dreamed at night. Like many girls, she wanted to be a princess, find True Love, and live Happily Ever After.
As she grew older, she learned that the world was not exactly as it seemed in the stories she loved best. It was hard to dream about castles from a 2-bedroom apartment and gallant princes always seemed to be in short supply. She began to write stories instead, creating characters that were like her, but not her, and she made a point of finding happy endings for all of them. It wasn’t ideal but, gosh, she believed in them anyway.
I’ll admit that I had other plans for this post (*gasp!*). It was going to be a cheerful, cheeky introduction to Awesome Breed Creations (ABC) horses where I depicted and discussed everything a curious outsider would want to know. I took pictures. I asked questions. I wore knee boots and jodhpurs and ran at a script count of one without looking like it. Then my friend Draco passed me some horses, these horses, and my well-laid plans flew out the window. Continue reading →
