No I don’t mean Christmas, though it is that time of year as well. I mean cold and flu season. That’s right it is here, tissues and cold pills, thermometers and blankets, ice packs and heating pads for everyone!
I’m not sick, at least not yet. It is inevitable that I will end up catching something. The idea for this hit me this afternoon when I saw Sari-Sari’s Am Sick gacha at this month’s round of The Arcade. Sadly my Portia is a bit under the weather and that combined with the gacha made me go in this direction. For the two of us living in locations where winter is a legitimately cold season being sick is just part of the deal. Combine that with having small children and you have an even better recipe for the unavoidable. Continue reading
I’m not a big fan of the cold so thankfully Second Life winter doesn’t actually make me cold. Of course it’s still like 20 degrees here in RL. It was nice to just set up a quiet scene in the middle of a wintry forest on our home sim.
I’ve had my moments, days in the sun
Moments I was second to none
Moments when I knew I did what I thought I couldn’t do
Like the day I walked away from the wine
For a woman who became my wife
And a love that, when it was right,
Could always see me through
Lookin’ at me now you might not know it
But I’ve had my moments
Emerson Drive – Moments
Yep. I know, this photo does not really show what we are wearing, the look on our faces, or anything I would normally do for a blog. That my friends is my point here. This photo and post is about the feeling. I’ve seen a lot of posts over the last month talking about “blogger requirements.” Those things being having to post a certain amount, needing a specific number of Flickr views, and followers. I understand that it’s a business thing and that the creators want to get the biggest audience they can. The issue for me is when the requirements are so tight that it truly sucks the enjoyment out of what you’re doing. Continue reading
A couple of weeks ago we wrote about Perspectives and how each of us can have such a different view even when looking at the same things. I’ve done a couple of shots and posts on my own since that one and while I was happy with the way they turned out, neither has really hit that spot. You know the one that just feels right? Portia and I sat down the other night, to once again try out our perspectives on a photo. Same pose, place, and styling, but completely different shots.
Music. The soundtrack of our lives? It’s probably true for most of us, at least in my opinion. I’ve always used it as a tool of some sort. Whether it amped me up for raid, galvanized me for some struggles on the horizon, or just plain relaxed me at late hours of the night. It’s my therapy.
“The other side of fear is freedom
the other side of pain is healin’
The madness keeps me from the other side
The truth a lie
The shame the Glory
The love the hate
an endless story
Lately I have been struggling seriously with ideas and creativity overall. It’s driven me absolutely nuts because I -want- to do things, take pictures, make posts, but I just can’t find ideas. I’m hoping that doing something simple will help break the ice.
Have you ever taken a break from Second Life? What was it like coming back after whatever amount time you were away? Portia and I took about a month and a half away because of real life changes and the new WoW expansion launching. The WoW thing being more my side of things as I had to get ready for more raiding. She’s been taking care of her lovely nephews most of the week and I’ve quite enjoyed the Skype time I’ve gotten with those little guys. Truly awesome to see the interaction that a one year old can have with you even from that far away.
So um, hello. It’s been a while since I last posted anything and for that I apologize. I’ve been quite busy with many things but I’ll be around here and there again finally!
A little bit less about the who’s the where’s for this post since I’m still deeply behind the eight ball when it’s come to being caught up. I ventured back off into the World Of Warcraft and have spent the past month gearing up for the first raids of the new expansion. Legion has been pretty good thus far, though it’s still early so we shall see where it ultimately ends up. Continue reading
The craze has overtaken me. I’ll admit it openly too. I’ve played Pokémon GO and it’s been a lot of fun. I actually started it on the release day and it’s been hard to put down. There have been varying opinions on it though, which surprised me.
It’s actually gotten me and my two brothers out and about walking around for the first time in I don’t know long. We all have different interests so of course finding something that ties in for the three of us is a rare deal. My younger brother and I collected the cards when they had first come along so we had that nostalgia. My youngest brother (He’s 13 years younger than I am) got into the later generations of Pokémon and then researched all of them. I think Niantic and Nintendo did a wonderful job of putting a game together that promotes be active and going out. Continue reading
