Sixties Shine

So here I am, awake at 5am and smiling after a few glasses of wine, and I’m excited to share this next post with you! This is a dress I’ve been styling for a few days but nothing was working the way I thought it should. I don’t wear much black and I’ll be the first to say that it’s my biggest challenge to work with deep, dark shades like this.

Until I realize that colour is the answer!

Check it out: shine‘s simple black sixties dress (available NOW at Designer’s Circle #42) with Cae‘s beautiful starfish jewelry set. I changed the jewelry to ‘patina’ (and THANK YOU, Cae, for having an option to change every item at the same time <3) and found a pair of blue/green ombre tights from Milk Motion. Truth‘s Cyanne hair with a greenish headband (so pretty!) and my fantastic HOC platforms round it all out perfectly.

Pekka has also released several different eye makeup packs since I was there last and … I sort of bought all of them. Today it’s the fresh look eyeshadow and doesn’t it look wonderful with IKON‘s Eternal Eyes in ‘lagoon?’

So the upcoming Vintage Fair is NEWS, ladies and gentlemen. You’ve seen the teasers; classic lettering in sepia and silver hues, elegant men and women in their fedoras and pillbox hats reminding us of a time when people were just that darned classy.

As a child of the 1980′s I truly do not, haha, but I yearn for the glory days of smoky jazz clubs and piano bars and a time where dressing to go out meant putting on MORE clothes, not less. I’ve been holding onto this picture -all day- because I’m quite proud of the way it turned out. The furniture (gorgeous!) is from POST and requires 34 prims for the full set, including the wonderful accessories shown below. “What could be better,” you ask? Well, how about this incredible Haarlem Deco set with SIX colour options?

The dress .. Bilo. Beautiful! It’s mesh and wonderfully textured – perfect for a night out or a steamy night in, wouldn’t you say? I’m also wearing Pekka lipstick (again, lol, because it’s AMAZING) for the sort of glamorous pout one wants when one is in a chic, smoky Haarlem lounge.

sYs, I LOVE THIS DRESS! Modern, streamlined mesh with great detail. I wasn’t too sure about it until I tried it on and gave it a little spin around the event area but now .. gah. I just love it. Chloe put together a wicked little earring/necklace set, available in charcoal (shown) and honey (wore to bed last night). The earrings are adorable faceted drops with BEES on them (cuuuute) and the ring, well. Check out the ring! Hey, look! I’m also wearing Pekka makeup and ready Kiss Kiss thanks to ROZENA, woo!  :D

Culture Shock 2012 – SL Designers Care (Pt. 2)

Sooooo .. this is turning out to be a larger undertaking than I expected. I should have probably expected it, haha, given how I LOOOOOVE to talk, but ah well. <3

I’ll admit that I wasn’t aware of the driving force behind SL’s Culture Shock. I heard that there was a new event, thought “hey, shopping!” and I was on it like .. well. Like a girl who has too many clothes already. When I noticed the donation board I couldn’t help but smile because this is what I love most about Second Life:

The second annual “Culture Shock” event in May 2012 (May 4th – May 26th) aims to be an important event for the Secondlife fashion culture. Celebrating trends and trendsetters within our business, and incorperating music and art, all with reflections of our own personal first life cultures depicted in our creations.

The choosen charity for this event is Médecins Sans Frontières (for the second year).

184 Store spaces will be available for the showcasing of products, including a mandatory minimum of 1 new and exclusive item each – contributing 50 – 100% of their profit to charity. 

We celebrate culture and individuality. We promote art and awareness. We love fashion – how not, with so many talented designers among us?
