Everything was custom made for this year’s Miss Virtual World pageant and even though I’m wearing Iceland’s gown and Turkey’s jewelry (my next post will feature Turkey’s gown with Iceland’s jewelry) the effect is just incredible. I used a soft, romantic hairstyle from [e] and IKON’s striking new Eternal Eyes in ‘Wave’ to complete this outfit. I still don’t know what else to say about it.
… there was a young girl who loved fairy tales; they were the first stories she read to herself and the dreams she dreamed at night. Like many girls, she wanted to be a princess, find True Love, and live Happily Ever After.
As she grew older, she learned that the world was not exactly as it seemed in the stories she loved best. It was hard to dream about castles from a 2-bedroom apartment and gallant princes always seemed to be in short supply. She began to write stories instead, creating characters that were like her, but not her, and she made a point of finding happy endings for all of them. It wasn’t ideal but, gosh, she believed in them anyway.
I’ll admit that I had other plans for this post (*gasp!*). It was going to be a cheerful, cheeky introduction to Awesome Breed Creations (ABC) horses where I depicted and discussed everything a curious outsider would want to know. I took pictures. I asked questions. I wore knee boots and jodhpurs and ran at a script count of one without looking like it. Then my friend Draco passed me some horses, these horses, and my well-laid plans flew out the window.
When I rezzed the horses I nearly cried. My heart raced and it was hard to breathe. I just stared at them for a good five minutes before I hopped on Frangipani’s back and rode her across my wintry home. Carrot and I jumped across rivers, over park benches, and raced faster than I knew I could move in SL. This was when I realized that I had to write from a deeper, truer place and share something that might provoke the sort of feelings I’m experiencing myself tonight.
It feels like magic and it’s wonderful.

So I’ll write an introduction to these horses tomorrow night (December 20th) after I attend my first live ABC horse race! It seems to be on their main sim (here) and begins at 5pm SLT. Soooo .. I’ve been spending more time alone than I like these days, clearly, and this is not a time of year to be without friends and family or the zillion pets or whatever else makes you happy. Sometimes all you have to do, though, is poke someone you know and say “hey, want to do a blog post with me?”

I’ll just talk about MY clothes instead, okay?
I wanted to do something special with this beautiful red poncho, by shine, that also hinted at the holidays. Is it strange that I only wear red in winter? Anyway, I started with the poncho (which looked bizarre until I put some pants on) and then realized that instead of wearing black trousers and a white blouse, I wanted to do something different. So I found a deep brown miniskirt and some fun tights from {Happy} as well as a creamy top with trumpet sleeves. League earmuffs came next when I realized this HAD to be an outdoors-y post and, omg, I am in love with these Ingenue booties. IN LOVE.
I don’t think I need to go into the details of what I had to do to get these earmuffs and the shade of boot I wanted from The Arcade, much less the RARE couple pose from !bang you see above. Let’s just not talk about that.
Okay, so it ISN’T that exact time of year yet (I try not to use the C-word all too often – I spent too many years working in retail hell to utter it without a few drinks in me first) BUT I’m having a great time styling holiday-themed outfits already. I had my sister pick a number between one and five to see which outfit I’ll cover first and, look, number three!
It’s so much fun to put something together with almost entirely new clothes; like some sort of pretty puzzle and not all the pieces are familiar to you yet. So here, we started with a great new item from Graffitiwear, featured in this month’s Designer Circle. I thought it was super cute with the Nylon Outfitter ‘funky pompom’ hat I picked up at Collabor88 this weekend and, with a bit of maneuvering, I found an adorable hairpiece from booN to cover my forehead without totally obscuring the gorgeous new Eternal eyes from IKON in ‘pine.’ I’m also wearing a pair of LaRoo shearling boots from the Arcade gacha event and, again from Collabor88, some snow lily jewelry by LaGyo.
Lastly, I found red and green eyeshadow! From Pekka! How perfect is that?!
Working Title: Yesterday’s Tomorrow’s Tomorrow Today
First of all, I’m sure you can see why I went with a simpler title but let me explain:
It was always my intention to cover the Tomorrow Today event in installments; it’s the easiest thing in the world to promote a new event because most everyone has heard about it, been waiting for it, and are excited to see fantastic new offerings especially when proceeds are donated to a worthwhile cause. The thing with Second Life, though, is that time is a little skewed. Many things happen on a daily basis and the more time we spend here, the fuller every day seems to be. It’s easy to say “hey, I really love this __________, but I’ll just come back for it later. I won’t forget.“
Sometimes we forget. We’re human. We err.
I was supposed to write this post yesterday under the borderline-creative-and-cheeky title “Tomorrow’s Tomorrow Today” but .. again, I’m as human as anyone. I didn’t get to it. Ugh.
